OSMaxxing Launch - another productivity app

A month ago, I was too distracted, and burned an entire evening without doing anything productive. Sound familiar?

As a software engineer, I decided it was time to build a tool to keep myself accountable, with positive reinforcement, rather than beating myself up, which doesn’t work.

So I (@_imdawon) built OSMaxxing, a cross-platform (mac for now - Linux and Windows coming soon) productivity app.

The productivity / hustle / timemaxxer optimization scene is at its peak, in 2025.

You have companies like Whoop, Oura, Sleep Number, all telling you that you need to quantify your life with their platform! Don’t you want to show your friends how many Strava steps you’ve taken this week? How many hours of sleep you got? Your whatever-score?

This sounds great, and does provide value for lots of people, but its usually just a ploy to collect and sell your data to advertisers, while giving you some cool statistics graphs (which you look at once a month) for $150/year. The real money is in the data.

How OSMaxxing is different #

OSMaxxing is a different kind of productivity software (and I sorta hate this term). You buy it once, and get lifetime updates for free. Without ANY tracking, by default.

Any future data collection is opt-in only, and will NEVER be sold to third parties. It will only be used to provide OSMaxxing users with greater value.

What is OSMaxxing? #

OSMaxxing is like a Fitbit for your digital life, revealing where your digital time goes, to help you eliminate distractions and cultivate positive habits.

It does this by (with your permission) looking at what programs you’re using every few seconds, saving it, and you marking that behavior. Imagine you were programming using VSCode for an hour, that would likely be a “Programming” activity, and a goal of “Learning”. You can also tell OSMaxxing to Auto-classify that behavior in the future. Very quickly, you’ll classify most of your computer behaviors, and OSMaxxing silently classifies your activities as you use your machine.

With enough data, it can also provide Insights: behaviors that may be helping or hindering your progress towards your goals:

  • How much time am I spending working during the weekend?
  • How many productive hours did I spend on the computer this week?
  • What is my typical daily time spent on my computer?
